Based on a true story…

“Since it is so likely that children will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage. Otherwise you are making their destiny not brighter but darker.”
— C.S. Lewis

Some scenes from Resurrection: Ertugrul

The valiant, Ertugrul and his mother, Mother Hayme.

Hayme: “Gokce is a daughter of a chief. She grew up in our hands. We know her manners, her attitude, her ancestors and all.”

Ertugrul: “You know all these, mother, but do you know my heart?”

Hayme: “Halime, is here today, gone tomorrow. We do not know who she is. If the promise to the forefathers is the well being of the tribe, this means Gokce for you, no one else.”

Ertugrul: “Mother, God took me to her. How can I betray those beautiful eyes? Those sweet words? If one day, I summon the courage to ask her whether her heart is with me, and she says ‘your path is my path,’ how can I tell her to go?”

The valiant, Ertugrul and the wise old warrior blacksmith, Wild Demir.
Standing in front of the smith tent…

Ertugrul: “My problem is such a problem that it cannot be said, Wild Demir. I do not know the words that can describe this problem.”

Wild Demir: “The tongue is only a messenger of the heart, my son. The problem is not in the tongue but in the heart. If your heart is in the right place, your tongue and your words will find the right path… …but your problem is obvious, son. There is only one problem that scares a brave…. and that is love. If you open your heart to the one you love, you would grow like a sycamore tree. If you do not, a worm would start eating you alive from inside. Even if you are a great sycamore tree you would fall down.”

Ertugrul: “How can I do it? She can never abandon her father or brother and I cannot abandon my home.”

Wild Demir: “The tribe is a tribe with loved ones. Home is home with loved ones. You are Ertugrul with your love… if you don’t have love, any place you call home, any sword you swing to the infidels would not satisfy you. Come on, break that chain on your tongue, so that your heart can have some peace.”

The valiant, Ertugrul and the princess-in-hiding, Halime.
In an open meadow, Ertugrul is working with his horse…

Ertugrul: “I saw this mare in the mountains where I was trained to fight. That is why she is different from the other mares. More wild, more maverick. She was very hard to catch, even harder to bring to the tribe. She was very stubborn. As she believed and trusted, she understood her value my eyes. She is yours now, if you give permission. I named her Princess. God willing, you shall never be separated from her.”

Halime: “We have a long journey ahead of us. Even if the end is imminent, the road is ours. Thank you, Ertugrul. I shall look after Princess as if she is my eyes. She will be by my side as long as I live.”

The valiant, Ertugrul and the princess-in-hiding, Halime.
As Ertugrul leaves on a perilous rescue mission…

Halime: “After all the things that have been robbed and taken away from me, you are taking with you all that is left. My father, my brother. I beg you to return with them. Return and complete the thing that is missing inside me.”

Ertugrul: “If I do not return, know that, whatever I had missing inside me, I found it in you.”

The valiant, Ertugrul and the princess-in-hiding, Halime.
Ertugrul is sitting on a rocky hillside, keeping watch. Halime joins him…

Halime: “I couldn’t sleep.”

Ertugrul: “Halime. I have a thousand problems. Their solutions are in my power, and my power is in my belief. But there is one problem… it it the most beautiful problem… but it burns my heart. And its only solution is with you. I cannot send you away with my own hands. Stay with me. Be the Queen of my heart, the mother of my children… and my companion until the end.”

Wondering how the story ends?

Who is your heart rooting for?

Why them?
