From a sleepy old book…

Okay fine.  Just a few more minutes.  Then I’m going to bed.

Dr. Walker: “No aspect of our biology is left unscathed by sleep deprivation.  It sinks down into every possible nook and cranny.”

Rachel Cooke: “The evidence Walker presents is enough to send anyone early to bed. It’s no kind of choice at all. Without sleep, there is low energy and disease. With sleep, there is vitality and health.”

“It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.”  – Psalm 127

“If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”  – Proverbs 3

“Better to have one handful with quietness than two handfuls with hard work and chasing the wind.”  – Ecclesiastes 4

“People who work hard sleep well, whether they eat little or much. But the abundance of the rich man will not let him sleep.”  – Ecclesiastes 5

“Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and trust is your strength.”  – Isaiah 30

“For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.  He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds.  He whispers in their ears… He protects them from the grave, from crossing over the river of death.”  – Job 33

Dr. Walker: “your brain goes into this incredible synchronized pattern of rhythmic chanting… a remarkable unity… a deep, slow mantra… hundreds of thousands of cells all sing together, and then go silent, and on and on.”

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  God created everything through the Word, and nothing was created except through him.  The Word gave life to everything that was created…” – John 1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Then God said, “Let there be light…”
Then God said, “Let there be space…”
Then God said, “Let there be land…”
Then God said, “Let there be plants…”
Then God said, “Let there be sun, moon and stars…”
Then God said, “Let there be fish and birds…”
Then God said, “Let there be many animals on the land…”
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. ”
Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it…”
Then God said, “Look! I have given you everything… everything that has life.”
– all from Genesis, chapter 1.

“For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He takes delight in you with gladness. With his love, he calms all your fears. He rejoices over you with joyful singing.” – Zephaniah 3

Bestselling author-physicist Brian Greene believes that everything in the whole Universe is held together by sound, vibrating at exactly tuned frequencies.

Did you know Brian considers himself an atheist?

“Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat.
But Jesus was sleeping…

“When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.”

Maybe there’s something to all this, sleeping and saying things…

What do you think?

I’m trusting you to figure it out. I’m going to sleep.
